Other law enforcement agencies in Sarasota County include, Longboat Key, Venice, Sarasota, Sarasota-Bradenton Airport Police, and North Port.   Last year law enforcement in Sarasota County issued over 40,000 moving violations to motorists.  Almost half of those violations were for unlawful speed.  The Sarasota County Sheriffs Office, North Police Police, Sarasota Police, and Venice Police Departments all have specialized traffic units.  These deputies and officers use motorcycles and undercover vehicles to pull motorists over for any moving violation.  In addition, the Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. assigned to Sarasota County is constantly flying over the quarter mile lines in the county and making sure that hundreds of motorists a month are ticketed for a moving violation. 

There are five county court Judges in Sarasota County.  One judge is permanently assigned to the Courthouse in Venice and the other four Judges are in Sarasota.  Starting in January of 2010 Judge Judith Goldman will be the Venice Judge, listening to serious bodily injury and fatality accident cases.  That is in addition to her responsbility of presiding over criminal county and civil cases.  In Sarasota, Judges Bonner and Denkin preside over criminal misdemeanor cases.  Judges Galen and LoGalbo are assigned to the civil division, and they listen to all civil traffic infractions.
