Wakulla County

Wakulla County, Florida is located in the Florida panhandle directly below Leon county on the Gulf of Mexico side.  The county is growing at a fast clip, and the latest population statistic estimated the counties population at just shy of 30,000.  The county seat is located in Crawfordville, Florida which is also home to the county courthouse.  Wakulla County, Florida is part of Florida's Second Judicial Circuit which serves Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, and Liberty counties.  The Honorable Jill Walker is the only Wakulla County Judge.  Her responsbility is to hear criminal and traffic ticket cases.

Given the small size of the county, Wakulla County law enforcement issued over 3,000 moving violations last year.  More than half of those violations were issued for unlawful speed pursuant to Florida statute 316.187 or Florida Statute 316.189.  The next most common citation was for careless driving.  In most instances careless driving citations follow an accident.  Many of those crashes are rear-end accidents and payment of those citations will result in 4 points being assessed to your Florida driving record.

Aside from civil infractions, criminal citations were issued last year in almost 700 cases.  Most of these criminal violations were issued for no valid driver's license or driving while license suspended.  Not far behind is DUI arrests and no vehicle tags.

If you are facing a suspended license and not help requesting a hardship license, call the Bureau of Administrative Review at 850-487-2788 for information.  The Florida DHSMV has an office at 202B Ochlocknee Road in Crawfordville.  Their number is 850-926-3575 and you can make an appointment online by clicking HERE.
