Fake Traffic Tickets Cause Reimbursement Problems In Miami-Dade

The case of the Florida Highway Patrolman who issued fake traffic citations has tallied 85 victims with nearly 100 traffic tickets so far. The traffic citations were issued to people who had previously been cited by FHP trooper Paul Lawrence who was just released from jail Tuesday following his arrest for 22 counts of misconduct according to published reports.

Now the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts misdemeanor division is trying to sift through the traffic ticket fiasco and issue refunds to those who paid the fake tickets. The traffic citation refunds are scheduled to go out in the next 2 or 3 weeks and if you received a traffic ticket that was falsified you need to contact the clerk of courts and your case will be heard in front of judge.

A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper is under arrest on 22 counts of official misconduct, which is a third-degree felony. According to a Miami Herald story trooper Paul C. Lawrence wrote over 200 traffic citations that have now been dismissed because they seemed to have been falsified. The traffic tickets were unsigned and may have been made up and based on previous traffic tickets the trooper had issued.

Gabrielle Shaink Trudeau, a 78-year-old grandmother, spent two weeks behind bars over Thanksgiving due to a ticket for driving with a suspended license. The Hallandale Beach woman was held in the Broward County Jail on a $2000 bond following the traffic citation. The elderly woman was recently convicted of a traffic ticket in Miami for improper backing following an accident there.
