Charlotte County Traffic Ticket Attorneys

Charlotte County Courthouse Punta Gorda Florida Charlotte County, Florida is located on Florida's West Coast below Sarasota and north of Ft. Myers.  Asiding from a beautiful boating location, Charlotte County has a very proactive law enforcement community. Although the Punta Gorda Police Department is the only municipal law enforcement agency in the county, they rack up their fair share of arrests.  The Charlotte County Sheriffs Office is the primarily law enforcement agency in the county and along with the Florida Highway Patrol, they are responsible for traffic enforcement.

There are almost 4000 criminal citations issued yearly, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing to elude, no valid drivers license, and driving while license suspended.

When they are not arresting people or issuing criminal citations, law enforcement in Charlotte County is issuing civil infractions.  A civil infraction is a ticket that does not have any criminal penalty.  The nature of the ticket can inlude speed, careless driving, violation of right of way, red light, and stop sign to name just a few.  There are over 13,000 tickets for non-criminal violations on a yearly basis.  Over one-third of these tickets are issued for unlawful speed.  The Florida Highway Patrol has several trooper that are assigned to Charlotte County.   Aside from those troopers, the Florida Highway Patrol will often use a fix winged aircraft in an attempt to issue as many speeding ticktets as possible.
