Move Over Law
Summary of “Move Over Law “
Move Over Law
My name is David Haenel. Thank you for coming to our Website. I’m one of the attorney’s here at Finebloom and Haenel. You’ve come to the particular page dealing with Florida’s Move Over Law. I just wanted to give you a brief understanding of what this law requires. Typically we see these citations issued on the Interstate. I-4, 75, 95, I-10.
What will happen in these situations is that an officer will be on the side of the road and sometimes they do special details where they actually have a multitude of officers on the side of the road, and then as you pass them, if you do not vacate the lane closest to the officer, or, if you do not slow down to twenty miles less than the posted speed limit, the officer can cite you with violating Florida’s Move Over law. That is a three point violation.
For motorists with a commercial license, you cannot elect traffic school. And in many instances, I’m seeing commercial driver’s cited with this violation because as they’re driving their big rig down the road, they can’t get over quick enough to the left lane.
If you’ve been given a citation for violation of Florida’s Move Over law, call our office so we can discuss any possible legal defenses. I’m available at 1-800-FIGHT-IT. That’s 1-800-344-4848. Better yet, go to the top of the Website and hit the “click to call button”. It’ll immediately forward you to our office. We would love the opportunity to try and beat this case for you. At the very least, keep the points off.& Give us a call.
